In Masterpieces of Western Art the painting seems to be a trifle over exposed resulting in a higher contrast picture with some slight loss of detail in the shadows. Color was well balanced. I used 5 other books for my comparison. In one text costing four times the price of this book the reproduction had a slight greenish tint/5(8).

Sweeney is a very passionate, knowledgeable and inspiring professor of American Art. I truly enjoyed his class as well as reading Masterpieces of Western American Art. The only art history book/class I've ever enjoyed. The book itself contains great content and paintings, but the actual copy I received looked like /5(11).
